ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio softball team has announced its 2023 schedule, first year head coach
Jenna Hall announced today (Dec. 7). The schedule is set for 53 games total, along with 30 Mid-American Conference matchups.
This season during MAC play, the Bobcats will play 10 three-game series, each including a doubleheader. All doubleheaders will be two seven-inning games.
Ohio kicks off their season February 10-12 in Boiling Springs, N.C. for the Gardner Webb Running Bulldog Classic where they will take on George Mason, Austin Peay, and Gardner Webb for two games. The following week (Feb. 17-19), the Bobcats travel to Baton Rouge, La. for a four-game tournament. There, they will face Central Arkansas and LSU on a double-header and Utah twice.
Next, the Bobcats will compete in the Campbell University Camel Stampede Tournament (Feb 24-26) in Buies Creek, N.C., where they will play Rider and Wagner on day one, ending the tournament with a double-header against Campbell and Duke. The following week (March 3-5), Ohio travels to Kentucky for the Eastern Kentucky Softball Tournament for double-header matchups against Indiana State and Dayton, followed by games against Oakland and Eastern Kentucky.
Ohio travels to Huntington, W. Va. for a matchup against Marshall (March 8). Following the game, Ohio will have a two-day turnaround before they travel to Tennessee for the Tennessee Tech Tournament (March 10-12) where they will play in five games, one against Merrimack, and two against Tennessee Tech and Robert Morris.
The Bobcats kick off MAC play at home with a three-game set against defending MAC champions Miami (March 17-18). Ohio then hits the road at Bowling Green (March 24-26) for another three-game series. Ohio continues their time on the road, traveling to Akron, Ohio (March 28-29) for a three-game set against Akron. Ohio then returns home to the OSF to take on Ball State (March 31-April 1).
For the remainder of the season, the Bobcats are on the road for four games as they travel to Columbus for a matchup between Ohio State (April 4) and Central Michigan for a three-game series (April 8-9). The Bobcats then return home for a three-game set against Kent State (April 11-12).
The Bobcats continue to alternate home and away series, traveling out to Northern Illinois (April 14-15) before hosting Toledo (April 25-26). Next, Ohio hits the road to take on Western Michigan (April 28-29) for their final road games of the regular season.
Ohio wraps up their regular season at the OSF against Buffalo (May 6-7). The MAC Tournament is set for Thursday, May 11 – Saturday, May 13; the team that wins the regular season will host.
