RICHMOND, Ky. -- The men's golf team started their season Sept. 3 and 4 as they traveled to Richmond, Ky. to participate in the EKU Intercollegiate. The team finished in 12th place.
The team started the first day of competition by completing two rounds on the day. After the first round of play, the Bobcats team were tied for ninth place, alongside Murray State and host Eastern Kentucky with a score of nine over par (292 total strokes). The second round of the day on Friday (Sept. 3) ended on a positive note, as the team made a three-shot improvement compared to the first round and finished with 289 total strokes.
The second day of competition was another step of improvement, as the Bobcats shot an overall team score of 282, a seven shot improvement compared to the second round. At the end of the event, the team had tallied a 12th place finish with an overall team score of +23.
Individually, the Bobcats were led by
Tanner Johnson, who shot a three-round score of 215 strokes, good for five over par. The lowest round of the tournament was turned in by
Zach Crawford, who shot a two-under 68 in the third round on Saturday (Sept. 4).

The men's team will return to action on Sept. 16 and 17, when they travel to Ball State to compete in the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational.
