Ohio Men's Golf Announces Transfer Addition

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's golf team will add Gabriel Mainella, a transfer from Longwood University, head coach Brennan Whitis announced on Tuesday (Aug. 4). Mainella will join the Bobcats as a sophomore in the upcoming season.
"Excited to have Gabriel join our program this year! He's coming off one of the best summers I have seen out of a player. Winning the Ontario Junior, 2nd at the Ontario Am, and a 7th place stroke play finish at the US Junior Am. He will play a huge role on our team this year!"
Mainella comes to Ohio by way of Longwood University, where he broke the team's scoring record with a 66-65-65—196 (-14), which was the first time a player had scored below 200 in team history. Mainella had one tournament win in six appearances and was selected to the Big South All-Freshman Team and named Big South Golfer of the Week once. A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, Mainella attended Richmond Green Secondary School.
