Ohio Men’s Golf Concludes 2026 Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis.– The Ohio men's golf team returned to action Sept. 27-29 in Madison, Wis. at the 2026 Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin Golf Course. Ohio competed among 19 other teams at the event, finishing in 14th place after shooting an 881 (+17).
Southern Mississippi won the event on Tuesday, finishing with an 841 (-21) as a team.
As a team, Ohio opened the invitational with a first round 293 before shooting a team best 290 on the second day. The Bobcats finished the week with a 298 in the third round.
Junior Mikey Schutte (Cincinnati, Ohio) had a fantastic week, finishing at even par after three rounds, tying for 21st place. Schutte opened the week shooting three under par thanks in part to an eagle on the 16th hole. Schutte shot four over in round two but finished his week going under again, shooting one under par in the third and final round.
Sophomore Rylan Hall (Stratford, Ontario, Canada) was rock solid as well, shooting six over in the first round before bouncing back by shooting one under par in round two. Hall wrapped up his successful week by shooting two over in the third round to finish at five over par for the competition, finishing tied for 53rd place.
Fellow sophomore Gabriel Mainella (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada) was very consistent in Madison, shooting two over par in the opening round and then following it up by shooting one over par in the second round. On the final day he shot three over, ending his week at six over par and tied for 57th place.
Freshman Cole Jones (Lancaster, N.Y.) made his second appearance as a Bobcat in Wisconsin. Jones shot even par in the first round but followed that up by shooting six over par in the second round and seven over par in the third round to finish 13 over par and tying for 85th place.
Freshman Will Mangas (Upper Arlington, Ohio) finished his week at 20 over par. He shot nine over to start the competition but then shot one under par in the second round. In third round he finished his day shooting 12 over., placing 98th.
Up next, Ohio will stay in state as they next compete at the 2026 Moraine Intercollegiate Oct. 12-13 in Kettering, Ohio.
