ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio softball team (14-14, 10-9 MAC) celebrated senior day by splitting a doubleheader with Bowling Green (16-18, 8-11 MAC) Saturday afternoon (April 17) at the Ohio Softball Field. Ohio took game one 2-0, and Bowling Green took game two 10-0 in five innings. 

Prior to the games, the Bobcats honored seniors Allie Englant (Long Beach, Calif.), Katie Yun (North Canton, Ohio), Mikenzie Vaughn (Kennesaw, Ga.), Ava Heidorn (Marysville, Ohio), Brooke Rice (Mason, Ohio) and Madi McCrady (Brimfield, Ohio).  

Ohio notched their first shutout of the season thanks to a strong effort in the circle by junior starting pitcher Mackensie Kohl (Corona Del Mar, Calif.). For the second game in a row, the Falcons out-hit the Bobcats 7-5. Junior first baseman Caroline Spacek (Beaumont, Texas) went 1-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and a run scored. 

Ohio struck in the first inning putting two on the board. Spacek singled to shortstop before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Senior shortstop Katie Yun (North Canton, Ohio) drew a walk and advanced to second on the throw. Spacek advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the first run on the throw. Yun raced home to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead thanks to a single by freshman infielder Annalia Paoli (Point Marion, Pa.), giving Ohio an early 2-0 lead. 

Bowling Green generated some offense in the third and fifth innings, but the Bobcats' defense held strong, securing the 2-0 victory. 

In the circle, Kohl picked up her sixth win of the season in the shutout. Kohl struck out five, gave up seven hits and no walks. 

GAME TWO: Bowling Green 10, Ohio 0 (5 Innings)
The Bowling Green offense came to life in game two. The Falcons out-hit Ohio 13-4. Senior center fielder Englant went 2-for-3 at the plate and added two stolen bases. Graduate student second baseman Vaughn went 1-for-3 with a double. 

Bowling Green got on the board first with a one-run first inning. 

Bowling Green's offense exploded in the third inning, pushing seven runs across the plate, including a three-run homerun, extending their lead to 8-0. They tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to make it 10-0. 

The Bobcats loaded the bases in the fifth inning, but couldn't convert, falling 10-0. 

Senior pitcher McCrady took the loss for the Bobcats pitching 2.0 innings, giving up five hits, four runs, three earned and striking out one. In relief, sophomore pitcher Holly Brehm (Mullens, W. Va.) went 0.1 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits. Freshman pitcher Cassidy Zaker (Lancaster, Ohio) went 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, one earned.
