ATHENS, Ohio— The Ohio softball team has announced its 2022 schedule, fourth-year head coach
Kenzie Roark announced today. The schedule is set for 52 games total, including 30 Mid-American Conference matchups.
This season during MAC play, the Bobcats will play 10 three-game series, each including a doubleheader. All doubleheaders will be two seven-inning games.
Ohio kicks off their season February 18-20 in Beaumont, Texas where they will take on New Mexico twice and Lamar three times. The following weekend (Feb. 25-27), the Bobcats travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for a five-game tournament. There, they will face Illinois State, Western Kentucky and Dayton—their remaining two opponents are to be determined.
Next, the Bobcats will compete in the Bulldog Classic (March 4-6) in Athens, Ga., where they will play Appalachia State and University of Georgia twice and University of Massachusetts once. The following Wednesday (March 9), Ohio travels to Dayton for a midweek game at 2 p.m.
Ohio competes in the Bluegrass Challenge, hosted by Louisville, March 11-12. There, they will play Louisville, Eastern Kentucky and Indiana before they return to the Ohio Softball Field for their home opener against Marshall (March 16).
The Bobcats kick off MAC play on the road with a three-game set against Buffalo (March 18-19). Ohio returns to the OSF to take on Ohio State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 before continuing MAC play with a three-game set against Bowling Green (March 25-26).
For the remainder of the season, the Bobcats play three-game series against MAC opponents, starting with a road trip to Oxford, Ohio to face off against rival Miami (April 1-2). Next, they host Akron (April 5-6) before heading to Muncie, Ind. to play Ball State (April 9-10).
The Bobcats continue to alternate home and away series, hosting Central Michigan (April 15-16) before hitting the road to take on Kent State (April 19-20). Next, they return to the OSF to play Northern Illinois (April 23-24) before visiting Toledo (May 3-4).
Ohio wraps up their regular season at the OSF against Western Michigan (May 7-8). The MAC Tournament is set for Thursday, May 12 – Saturday, May 14; the team that wins the regular season will host.
