
Ohio Throwers Record Several PR’s in Two Days of Competition at the Akron Last Chance Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio women's track and field team concluded two days of competition at the Akron Last Chance Invitational on Thursday, May 7.
Day 1 Recap (Wednesday)
Ohio kicked off the meet with the women's hammer throw. Sophomores Ashley Cornathan (Hilliard, Ohio) and Kiyah Baker (Troy, Ohio) recorded personal-best marks in the event. Cornathan placed seventh (47.62m/156-2, PR) and Baker took home ninth place (43.82m/143-9, PR).
Freshman Aubree Beery (Lancaster, Ohio) competed in the 'Invite' section of the women's hammer throw. Beery finished eighth with a mark of 48.90 meters (160-5).
Sophomore Emma Hayes (Pomeroy, Ohio) took home second place in the women's javelin with a personal-best mark of 32.43 meters (106-4).
Day 2 Recap (Thursday)
The second day of competition consisted of the women's discus and shot put. Sophomore Lauren Mader (Green Bay, Wis.) competed in the 'Invite' section of the event, placing second with a mark of 46.11 meters (151-3). In the other section of the women's discus, sophomore Josie Kleinhenz placed fifth with a personal-best mark of 41.03 meters (134-7).
Graduate student Jasmine Correa (Holland, Mich.) was Ohio's top performer in the women's shot put. Correa recorded a personal-best mark of 13.16 meters (43-2.25), placing sixth overall. Mader also recorded a PR in the shot put, placing eighth with career-best mark of 12.49 meters (40-1.75).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, May 8.
