
Beery Leads Ohio Women’s Track & Field with Top 5 Program Mark at Ashland Invitational

ASHLAND, Ohio – Freshman Aubree Beery (Lancaster, Ohio) led the Ohio women's track & field team at the Ashland Invitational with a top five program mark in the weigh throw on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Beery placed second in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 18.11 meters (59-5). She recorded two marks over 18.00 meters, for the first time in her career.
Other top performers in the field events were freshman Alexys Sterling in the women's long jump and graduate student Jasmine Correa (Holland, Mich.) in the women's shot put. Sterling placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.29 meters (17-4.25). Correa placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.32 meters (40-5).
Ohio had several athletes record new PR's in the women's mile. Freshman Savana Miller led the Bobcats with third-place finish (5:01.16, PR). Senior Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) placed fourth (5:01.35) and senior Morgan Roth (Brunswick, Ohio) followed behind in fifth place with a PR of 5:06.16. Sophomore Jaclyn Garvey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) also recorded a PR, placing seventh with a time of 5:17.41.
Junior Arissa Leo (Washington, D. C.) qualified for the finals of the 60m with a fifth-place time of 7.91. Leo placed fourth in the finals with a time of 7.85.
Junior Elinor Shuttleworth (Beavercreek, Ohio) and senior Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) highlighted the middle distance events for Ohio. Shuttleworth placed fifth in the women's 400m with a time of 58.98. Doughman took home second place in the women's 800m with a time of 2:12.99.
Three Bobcats finished in the top 10 of the women's 3,000 meters. Sophomore Sophie Lane (Hilliard, Ohio) led Ohio with a fourth place and personal-best time of 10:19.88. Freshman Adelyn Tager (Morgantown, W. Va.) came in fifth place with a time of 10:21.05. Junior Abby Wells (Westerville, Ohio) finished in eighth place with a time of 2:20.73.
The women's 4x400m relay team, comprised of Shuttleworth, senior Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio), Wells and Garvey, placed third with a time of 3:58.14.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Meyo Invitational on Friday, Jan. 30.
