ATHENS, Ohio (Aug. 13, 2025) — Ohio Athletics announced today that Miya Garrett has been named Associate Athletics Director of Brand Advancement and Communications Strategies.

"Miya Garrett is a rising star who will elevate our digital and communications strategies units," said Director of Athletics Julie Cromer. "She has a proven track record of enhancing engagement across a variety of platforms with a focus on revenue generation. We are excited to welcome her to Athens."

Garrett, who has almost a decade of experience in college athletics administration at the FBS level, joins Ohio from Arkansas State, where she served as the Director of Donor Engagement before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for External Engagement and Donor Experience in 2022. Her role at A-State included leading the external communications strategy for the Red Wolves Foundation, overseeing sports-specific booster clubs and revenue-generating events.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to join Ohio Athletics," said Garrett. "I'm excited to bring my experience in branding, social media strategy and fan engagement to a community with such a strong tradition. I'm looking forward to working with coaches, student-athletes, and staff to help grow the Ohio University brand and strengthen its connection with the Bobcat community and fan base."

In 2024, Garrett successfully transitioned the Red Wolves Foundation website to SIDEARM, enhancing user experience. Garrett also developed digital programming, increasing the overall game day fan experience at A-State sporting events.

Garrett reenvisioned and implemented fundraising initiatives within areas of oversight, while also streamlining processes that increased efficiency and production. She also worked closely with A-State's external staff, including marketing, communications and branding.

Garrett began her career at A-State as Assistant Director of Media Relations, where she led communications for baseball, women's soccer, and women's bowling, while also enhancing the overall social media strategy for A-State athletics.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Garrett received her bachelor's degree in strategic communications with an emphasis in social media management, public relations, and marketing in 2018. As an undergraduate, Garrett was an intern for media relations and the A-State Football program.
