OLDSMAR, FLA. – The Ohio women's golf team delivered an impressive performance during their spring break tournament, finishing sixth overall and second and among the Mid-American Conference teams at the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational hosted by Butler on Mar. 10-11 at the East Lake Woodlands Golf Club. The Bobcats recorded an overall score of 639 (+63), with sophomore
Zoe Luebbers tying for seventh place.
Western Michigan (+50) claimed the top spot, followed by Butler (+54), with Fairleigh Dickinson (+55), Merrimack (+61), and Quinnipiac (+62) rounded out the top five.
As a team, Ohio opened the first round with a score of 325, before bouncing back on Tuesday to shoot a 314.
Individually, Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Bobcats, posting rounds of 77 on day one, before finishing Tuesday with a 79 for a total tournament score of 156 (+12), earning her a four-way tie for seventh place out of 95 athletes.
Senior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Indiana) followed behind, tying for 21st after shooting scores of 81 and 78, for a total of 159 (+15). Freshman Saylor Wharff (Marietta, Ohio) secured tied for 36th with scores of 85, and 77, finishing with a eighteen-over total of 162.
Sophomore Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) finished tied for 45th, opening the tournament with a 84, before posting a 80 in round two, finishing the event with a score of 164 (+20). Rounding it off for the Bobcats, junior Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Arizona) finished tied for 81st, with a twenty five-over total of 169 (83+86).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Anna Coccia (New Albany, Ohio) finished in a tie for 40th. Coccia opened the tournament with a score of 81 in round one, followed by a 82 in round two, totaling for 163 (+19).
The Bobcats will return to action on Mar. 31 - Apr. 2 at the 2025 Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. The three-day event will be hosted by Golf Week at the Caledonia Golf and Fish in PPawley's Island, S.C.
