
Ohio Women's Golf Finishes Play at UNCG/Advance Golf Partners Collegiate

PALM CITY, Fla. – The Ohio women's golf team finished play today (Feb. 13) at the UNCG/Advance Golf Partners Collegiate. The Bobcats finished in 11th place, shooting 941 (+77) as a team over the three-day tournament.Â
The Bobcats climbed the leaderboard on each day of the tournament. As a team, Ohio finished the first round in 13th, second round in 12th, and closed out the final day in 11th-place.Â
Ohio participated in a field of 14 teams including the hosts UNCG, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Elon, Lipscomb, UAB, Boston University, Longwood, William & Mary, Towson, SIU, Bucknell, and Stonehill. Ultimately, Jacksonville State and Elon shared the championship, shooting 897 (+33) as a team.Â
Leaading the way for Ohio was freshman Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) who shot a 233 (+17) over the three rounds. Rodgers finished in a tie for 28th after shooting rounds of 76 (+4), 80 (+8), and 77 (+5). Her final round of 77 propelled her into the top-30 in the tournament.Â
Just behind Rodgers, sophomore Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.) finished in 32nd. After shooting 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) in the opening two rounds, McRee shot a 74 (+2) to push her up 22 spots on the final day. The sophomore finished with a total of 234 (+18) after the three rounds.Â
Finishing in a tie for 33rd, freshman Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) improved her scoring after each round. Luebbers began with a round of 82 (+10), but responded with rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) to jump 17 competitors on the leaderboard. Overall, the freshman had 235 total strokes, finishing +18 for the tournament.Â
Junior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.) followed behind Luebbers, finishing in 61st with 243 total strokes (+27). Longstreth had rounds of 81 (+9), 79 (+7), and 83 (+11) over the three days. Longstreth and Rodgers tied for the most birdies by a Bobcat with four.Â
Four strokes behind Longstreth, senior Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) finished in a tie for 68th. Vega-Rivera showed improvement over each round. Beginning with an 85 (+13), the senior shot rounds of 83 (+11) and 79 (+7) to finish with a total of 247 (+31).Â
Rounding out the tournament for Ohio, junior Sloane Post (Centennial, Colo.) competed as an individual. The Colorado-native finished in 72nd with 251 strokes (+35) after the three days.Â
The Bobcats will return to the course on Feb. 23 at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Rio Verde, Arizona. The three-day tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, will be held at Rio Verde Country Club and White Wing Golf Course.Â
