
Norah Roush Named Defensive Player of the Year, and Four Bobcats Named To All-MAC Teams

CLEVELAND -- Five members of the Ohio soccer team have earned 2024 Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer postseason honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday (Nov. 5). Junior Norah Roush (Dublin, Ohio) was named Defensive Player of the Year in addition to earning a spot on the All-MAC First Team alongside junior Eve Berish (Hudson, Ohio) and sophomore Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio). Additionally, juniors Maia Kaufman (Westerville, Ohio) and Celeste Sloma (Columbus, Ohio) were selected for the All-MAC Second Team.
"We are extremely proud of the recognition these players have received. I know that each one of these players would first thank their teammates for the support they have received from each other. We pride ourselves in celebrating all success together as a group" head coach, Aaron Rodgers said.
Norah Roush has been honored as the Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team as a result of her outstanding performance as Ohio's leading defender throughout the 2024 season. Roush is the first Bobcat in program history to receive the postseason award. Starting all 19 games, Roush played a pivotal role in securing 10 overall regular season victories, including five in conference play. Demonstrating skills beyond defense, she also recorded nine shots, with three on target. Her impressive playtime amounted to 1,657 minutes, making her the second highest in minutes played for the Bobcats this season.
Eve Berish earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team for her outstanding performance as a pivotal midfielder for Ohio. Berish started in all 19 games this season and scored two crucial game-winning goals at home, one against Marshall (Sept. 5) and another against Oakland (Sept. 15). Berish recorded 24 shots, landing seven on goal. With a total of 1,381 minutes played, she placed fourth among her teammates, showcasing her significant presence on the field and contributing to Ohio's overall success this season.
Jaimason Brooker was selected to the All-MAC First Team after an impressive season as Ohio's leading goalscorer. Starting all 19 games, Brooker showcased her scoring prowess with seven goals, including two thrilling game-winners. The forward/midfielder netted five of those goals during 11 conference matches, with standout performances that included two key goals on the road against Ball State (Oct. 13) and two at home against Central Michigan (Oct. 27). Additionally, Brooker demonstrated her play making ability by recording six assists, making her the team's leader in this category and highlighting her all-around contribution to Ohio's success this season.
"Jaimason has led our team from the front and has been instrumental in creating and scoring goals, her energy is contagious" Rodgers said.

A key contributor to the Bobcats' success this season, Kaufman recorded six shots, including three on target, along with one assist and a crucial goal against Northern Kentucky (Aug. 20). Starting all 19 games, she consistently showcased her dedication and teamwork, clocking in an impressive 1,421 minutes on the field—the third highest on her team.
Celeste Sloma established herself as one of the top goalkeepers in the MAC during the 2024 season, earning her a spot on the All-MAC Second Team. Starting all of the 19 games, she tallied an impressive 1,665 minutes in goal for Ohio. With remarkable defensive prowess, Sloma allowed only 11 goals throughout the season, resulting in a goals against average of 0.599. She recorded a total of 60 saves, highlighted by a standout game where she made seven saves, along with two other matches in which she tallied five. Sloma's heroics in goal culminated in an impressive 10 shutouts, ranking her second overall in the conference.
"Celeste Sloma has been a top goal keeper in the league for the past two seasons and has continually led from the back" Rodgers added.
No. 3 seed Ohio will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face No. 2 seed Buffalo this Thursday (Nov. 7) at 11 a.m. ET in the MAC Tournament semifinals.
