PORTAGE, Mich. – The Ohio women's golf team secured a strong second-place finish at the 2024 Bronco Fall Classic, hosted by Western Michigan October 7-8 at The Moors Golf Club. The Bobcats recorded an overall score of 929 (+65), with sophomore
Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) leading the team, finishing tied for fourth overall.
California State Northridge captured the tournament title, followed closely by Ohio, while Western Michigan finished in third place (+66), then Central Michigan (+73), IU Indy (+96), and Valparaiso (+113).
As a team, Ohio kicked off the first round on Monday with a score of 309, followed by a 305 in the second round. The Bobcats concluded the tournament on Tuesday with a score of 315, solidifying their second-place standing.
Individually, Luebbers was the standout performer for the Bobcats, posting scores of 75 and 78 on day one, and finishing Tuesday with a 76 for a total score of 229 (+13), which earned her a tie for fourth out of 62 competitors.
Senior
Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.) followed closely, finishing tied for sixth with rounds of 79 and 75 on Monday, and concluding the tournament with a 77 for a total of 231 (+15). Sophomore
Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) placed in a tie for 14th, shooting scores of 78, 77, and 80 for an overall score of 235 (+20), while junior
Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.) finished with a total of 236 (+20) (scores of 77, 75, and 84).
Freshman
Saylor Wharff (Marietta, Ohio) finished tied for 26th overall, opening the tournament with an 84, followed by a 78 in the second round and an 82 in the final round for a total of 244 (+28).
Competing as an individual for the Bobcats, freshman
Ally Turner (Miamisburg, Ohio) finished in 43rd place. Turner began the tournament with an 84 in round one, followed by an 86 and an 83 in the final two rounds, totaling 253 (+37).
The Bobcats will return to competition on October 21-22 at the 2024 Dayton Fall Invitational. This two-day event will be hosted by Dayton at the NCR - North Course in Kettering, Ohio.
