ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women's soccer team have signed nine student-athletes to their roster for the 2024 season, head coach Aaron Rodgers and associate head coach Cortney Wiesler announced. Abby Lang, Allison Hooks, Allie Mouch, Iro Fakinou, Jillian Miller, Lillian Weller, Norah Roush, Sania Dearing, and Sarah Helphenstine will join the Ohio soccer team and look to defend the MAC Championship in the upcoming 2024 season.
Abby Lang comes from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she played at North Allegheny High School from 2020 to 2024, earning three varsity letters in soccer. She also played for the Beadling Soccer Club, Girls Academy, from 2018 to 2024. At North Allegheny High School, Abby scored seven goals in her high school career.
Abby is the daughter of Megan and Kevin Lang. Her favorite athlete is TJ Watt and her favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and the United States Women's National Team.
Allison Hooks hails from Milford, Michigan, where she played at Milford High School, earning three varsity letters. Allison was a key member of the Michigan Hawks ECNL team for four years, earning All-Conference ECNL Second Team in 2021 and helping the team finish second in the ECNL Midwest Conference in 2023. Throughout Allison's four-year span at Milford High School, Allison participated in approximately 92 games.
Allison is the daughter of Martha and Kevin Hooks, and has one sibling, Alexandra (19). Her favorite athlete is Sydney Leroux and her favorite teams are the United States Women's National Team and the Detroit Lions.
Allie Mouch attended Wyoming High School, where she played for the varsity soccer team for four years, winning the state championship in 2021 with an undefeated season. She also played for two club teams: Ohio Elite ECNL and Cincinnati DA. Individually, Mouch earned several accolades, including Districts MVP, 1st Team All Region, and 1st Team All State in 2022. She set an all-season assist record of 25 in 2022 and accumulated a total of 43 career assists over her high school soccer years.
Allie is the daughter of Natalie and Andy Mouch and has two siblings Drew (20), and Katie (16). Her favorite athlete is Mallory Pugh Swanson and her favorite teams are FC Cincinnati and the United States Women's National Team.
Iro Fakinou is from Athens, Greece where she played for several clubs including AO Vrilission (3 years), Olympiada Ymittou (3 years), and Asteras Tripolis (1 year). During the 2022-23 season, Fakinou was named captain of Greece's U-17 National Team and scored multiple goals during the team's UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship Qualififcation matches. Additionally, her futsal team finished second in the Futsal Championship in Greece in 2019.
Iro is the daughter of Sotiria Dimopoulo and Konstantinos Fakinos, and has one brother Filippos Fakinos (13). Her favorite athletes are Lionel Messi and Alexia Putellas and her favorite teams are Barcelona and Olympiakos.
Jillian Miller comes from Hinckley, Ohio, where she played at Highland High School, earning four varsity letters in soccer and served as the team captain during her junior and senior years. Miller was part of Suburban League Championships in 2020 and 2023 and won the District Championship in 2023. Throughout her high school soccer career, Miller recorded a total of 28 goals and 29 assists. In addition to her time at Highland, Jillian played for the Cleveland Force Soccer Club for six years.
Jillian is the daughter of Rochele and Brian Miller, and has two siblings, Madison (19), and Delaney (16). Her favorite athlete is Carli Lloyd and her favorite teams are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Browns, and United States Women's National Team.
Lillian Weller attended Clark-Shawnee High School for her first three years, where she scored 73 career goals and 36 assists. For her senior season, Weller moved to Legacy Christian Academy where she scored 52 goals and tallied 17 assists during the 2023 season. Weller received First-Team All-League honors from 2020 to 2023, as well as Player of the Year accolades from 2021 to 2023. Weller set the OHSAA record for goals and assists in a game in 2022, with 8 goals, and assists in a game with 5 in 2020. In 2023, she established the OHSAA record for goals in a season with an impressive 52 goals. In addition, Weller was a part of Ohio Elite ECNL from 2019 to 2024.
Lillian is the daughter of Tiffany and Nicholas Weller, and has three siblings, Noah (23), Owen (19), and Deacon (16). Her favorite athlete is Alexia Putellas and her favorite team is Chelsea FC.
Norah Roush will be joining the Ohio soccer team by way of Miami University where she played two seasons. Originally from Dublin, Ohio, Roush played in 39 games, making 37 starts as a defender and midfielder for the RedHawks. In 2022, Roush scored three goals while playing just under 1,700 minutes. During her freshman year, she was named to the All-MAC Second Team and All-MAC Freshman Team. Prior to her stint at Miami, Roush attended Dublin Coffman High School. Roush was a captain at Dublin Coffman and earned numerous accolades during her high school career. A four-year varsity starter, Roush was named to the Second Team All-District and Second Team All-Conference. As a senior, she was named to First Team All-District and First Team All-Conference.
Sania Dearing comes out of Pickerington, Ohio, playing at Pickerington High School North, where she competed for four years. During her time at Pickerington High, Dearing earned two varsity letters. Dearing was named to the ECNL All-Regional League First Team and earned a spot on the Ohio Capital Conference Second Team in 2023. Dearing was selected for the ECNL RL Continental Tire National Select Team. Additionally, Dearing was a part of the North American Select Player Team for Southampton FC, United Kingdom, in 2022. Moreover, while playing for Sporting Columbus, she scored an impressive 41 goals in 39 games during the 2022-2023 season. Her senior year saw her score 18 goals in 14 games, despite missed games due to a minor injury.
Sania is the daughter of Manju and Steve, and has two siblings, Mia (19), and Alina (15). Her favorite athlete is Rose Lavelle and her favorite teams are the Columbus Crew and Southampton FC.
Sarah Helphinstine hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, playing at Little Miami High School, earning four varsity letters. Helphinstine was a part of the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy for 11 years. She was named to the 1st team ECNL in 2022 and was part of the National Playoff Team. Helphinstine earned the MVP title in 2022, 1st team All ECC, All SW Ohio, and All City Cincinnati/NKY in 2022. In 2021, she was named MVP, 1st Team All ECC, and received Honorable Mention All ECC. In addition, Sarah was a captain during her junior and senior years at Little Miami.
Sarah is the daughter of Suzzanne and Todd Helphinstine, and has five siblings, Isaiah (20), Benjamin (14), Crew (13), Zander (18), and Cruz (13). Her favorite athlete is Julie Ertz and her favorite team is FC Cincinnati.
