ATHENS, Ohio – Thursday afternoon, the GCAA announced their Outstanding Team Academic Awards for the 2022-23 season. The Ohio men's golf team has been honored with the Presidents Special Recognition Award.

Head coach Brennan Whitis was thrilled to learn of the team's recognition. He noted, "The guys work as hard in the classroom as they do on the course. Every year we set academic goals on top of how we play and this year they blew them out. Amazing to get this recognition for the effort they put in!"

The Presidents Special Recognition was given to 54 progams in NCAA Division I for achieving a team GPA of 3.5 or higher. GCAA named Sacred Heart as the 2022-23 NCAA Division I Academic National Champions with a team GPA of 3.843.

This is the third GCAA award received by the Ohio men's golf team in the past two days. On Wednesday, juniors Matt Daulton and Sam Hogan were named 2022-23 NCAA Division I GCAA All-America Scholars for their accomplishments academically and athletically.
