KENT, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (16-22, 13-7 MAC) fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes (30-12, 15-5 MAC) at Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadiumthis afternoon (April 29), 13-4.
Individually, freshman Billy Adams (Medina, Ohio) led the Bobcats offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate and earning two RBIs. Redshirt sophomore Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored one run on one hit and recorded one RBI. Sophomore Zach Weber (Lebanon, Ohio) got the start on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings. Sophomore Adam Beery (Ravenna, Ohio) closed the game, allowing only one hit.
Ohio took advantage of a throwing error to score the game's first run. Dolan then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to grow the Bobcats' lead to two entering the bottom of the second. Kent State's offense ignited in the third, scoring eight runs and setting the score at 8-2.
The Bobcats cut into the deficit with an RBI single to make the score 8-3. A pair of two-run home runs for the Golden Flashes extended their lead to nine entering the sixth. Adams earned his second RBI of the afternoon, driving in a run to put the score at 12-4, Kent State.
Kent State added to their total scoring one in the seventh, winning the game 13-4.
Up next, the Bobcats will look to bounce back against Kent State tomorrow (April 30). First pitch is 1 p.m. at Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium.
