Ohio Baseball Falls to Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Ohio baseball team (2-9) fell to the University of Kentucky Wildcats (11-2) at Kentucky Proud Park today, 9-2.Â

Individually, both fifth year Will Sturek (Minnetonka, Minn.) and freshman Billy Adams (Medina, Ohio) went 2-for-3. Adams also recorded the Bobcats' only RBIs of the day. On the mound, graduate student Colin Sells (Lancaster, Ohio) started, pitching one inning with one strikeout.Â

Ohio struck in the top of the second. With bases loaded, Adams singled down the right field line, driving in junior Alec Patino (Sioux City, Iowa) and fifth year Mason Minzey (Grand Blance, Mich.) to take a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats. Kentucky answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs with a double and a single.Â

After three scoreless innings, the Wildcats extended their lead to 7-2 with a single and a double. They tacked on one run in both the seventh and the eighth, leaving Ohio trailing by seven runs.Â

Unable to score again, the Bobcats fell, 9-2. Â

Up next, the Bobcats are set to open Mid-American Conference play in Athens March 10-12 when they host the Bowling Green Falcons. First pitch on Friday, March 10 is set for 2 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium.Â
