Ohio Track & Field Completes Day One at MACs

KENT, Ohio -- The Ohio track & field team wraps up day one of the 2022 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (Feb. 25) at the Kent State Field House.
Fifth year Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) ran a 16:57.89 in the 5000m to secure a seventh-place finish and back-to-back All-MAC performances. Junior Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) also competed in the 5k, clocking a 18:09.98.
Additionally, the 4000m distance medley relay team of graduate student Jessie Hartman (Lebanon, Ohio), graduate student Abigail Summers (Columbus, Ohio), sophomore Emma Myers (Logan, Ohio) and red shirt sophomore Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) claimed a fifth-place finish with a time of 12:11.09.
In the preliminary events, senior Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) qualified for the mile final with a time of 4:59.13. In the 200m dash, red shirt junior Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.) qualified for finals with a personal record of 24.88. Stehpens also competed in the 400m prelim but was just shy of advancing with a 57.36.
Senior Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) also made an appearance for Ohio, throwing a 16.55m in the weight throw.
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 26), beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST.
