Three Ohio Volleyball Student-Athletes Awarded 2022-23 All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Three Ohio volleyball student-athletes garnered 2022-23 All-Mid-American Conference honors, as announced by the conference office this morning (Nov. 19). Senior middle blocker Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.) and sophomore outside hitter Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) were named to the All-MAC First Team. Additionally, freshman opposite hitter Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) earned a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team.
Caitlin O'Farrell has received All-MAC honors for the second time, with her first coming in the 2019 season when she was selected for the All-Freshman Team. Starting all 18 conference matches, the middle blocker has contributed her talents to the Bobcats' offense and defense. O'Farrell is a conference leader in kills, recording 207, while averaging 3.09 per set and hitting .313 during conference play alone this season. Meanwhile, O'Farrell has aided Ohio's defense by collecting 33 block assists and six block solos. In addition to her 37 total blocks, she has collected 29 digs. O'Farrell was also named MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week in week six.
Caroline Clippard continues to be a key performer for Ohio's offensive despite only being in her second season. Clippard garnered All-MAC recognition for the second season in a row after being placed on the All-MAC First Team and All-Freshman Team last season.The sophomore has played in all 18 conference matches, starting in nine of them. Clippard is second on the team in kills, collecting 197 and averaging 3.08 per set during conference play. Clippard has also been an asset to the Bobcats' defense as well, recording 11 blocks (two solos, nine assists) and 37 digs.
Anna Kharchynska received her first All-MAC honors after becoming a key performer in Ohio's rotation this season. The freshman tallied 111 kills in her 17 conference match appearances. Kharchynska is also integral to the Bobcats' defense, adding 35 total blocks (30 assists and five solos) and 30 digs. The opposite hitter recorded a career-high 13 kills against Buffalo (Oct.15), committing no errors and hitting .419.Â
No. 3-seed Ohio (19-10, 13-5 MAC) will square off against No. 6-seed Buffalo (18-12, 10-8 MAC) in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament on Sunday (Nov. 20) at Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind. The match will get underway at 7 p.m. ET and be streamed live on ESPN+.
