Ohio Finishes in a 1-1 Draw Against NIU

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Women's soccer team (6-4-2) battled Northern Illinois (5-4-3) today (Oct. 6th) at Chessa Field to a 1-1 draw. The matchup proved to be another challenging MAC contest. 

In the first 45 minutes both teams were firing shots but it was a complete defensive game ending at 0-0. Ohio had 7 shots with several of them on goal and Northern Illinois had 4 shots, 1 of them on goal. Overall, the Bobcat's held majority possession but were unable to finish on Huskie's goalkeeper Sadie McGill in the first half.

Both teams came out strong in the second half both scoring for a 1-1 tie to end the game. The Bobcats goal came in the 60th minute that started with a shot by Abby Townsend that was rebounded for a goal by Regan Berg. The Huskies retaliated quickly with a goal in the 63rd minute by Amber Best to tie it up. 

Individually, Ohio's Abby Townsend led the Bobcats with 4 shots. Isabella Ginocchi and Regan Berg both finished with 3 shots. Haley Miller and Shea Robertson both had 2 shots apiece, while Kali Stock, Kennedy Rieple, and Carsyn Prigge all had one shot. 

Defensively, goalkeeper Sam Wexell played all 90 minutes for the Bobcats totaling 2 saves with 1 goal allowed.

Up Next:  

The Ohio Bobcats will travel to Bowling Green to face off against the Falcons for another MAC contest. Kickoff is scheduled for this Sunday (Oct. 9) at 1pm.
