Biography

2022: Townsend played in all 19 games for the Bobcats, starting in 18 of those games. She scored seven goals and had ten assists on the year. She tallied 45 shots, 27 of which were on target, and 1,502 minutes played. In the Bobcats' 3-2 win over Western Michigan, Townsend had her second multi-goal game which included the game-winner. She was named to the All-MAC First Team, United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-Midwest Region Second Team, and received the MAC Offensive Player of the Week award after she dominated with a goal and an assist in the win over Western Carolina. Townsend was also named to the Academic All-MAC Team for her combined performances on the field and in the classroom. With her ten assists on the year, Townsend tied Ohio's all-time assist record. 

2021: Played in 16 games for the Bobcats, starting in 15 of those games... Scored 2 goals and had 4 assists... Totaled 52 shots, 23 of them on goal for a .442 shots on goal percentage. 

2020*: Played in all 10 games for the Bobcats, starting nine of them… Tied for lead on team with two goals and one assist… Led the team with 21 shots, put nine shots on goal for a .429 shots on goal percentage and a .095 shooting percentage… Scored first goal of the season on March 14 against Akron and second on April 8 against Kent State… Led team with two yellow cards… Named Academic All-MAC.

2019: Played and started all 21 games for the Bobcats…Scored five goals and recorded a team-high 12 assists for 22 total points, which was second on the team…Recorded 67 shots with 35 of them on goal for a .522 shots on goal percentage…recorded two game-winning goals…In MAC play, scored four goals and had six assists for 14 points, including 19 shots on goal…Opened the season on Aug. 22 against Eastern Kentucky with the overtime goal to give Ohio the 2-1 win…Recorded a six-point game on Oct. 24 at Miami where she scored two goals and had two assists in the 5-2 win…Recorded a goal and an assist on Sept. 27 at NIU…Registered two assists for the Bobcats on Aug. 30 against Cleveland State…Named First Team All-Ohio…Named Academic All-MAC…Named United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Third Team…Named to the All-MAC First Team…Named MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete. 

2018: Played in and started 20 games for the Bobcats…Registered four goals and four assists in her freshman campaign…Attempted 46 shots while recording 25 shots on goal for a .087 shot percentage and a .543 shots on goal percentage…Scored her first career goal in her first start at Pittsburgh (Aug. 17)…Recorded first career assist in a 2-1 win at Buffalo (Oct.7)…Named to MAC All-Freshman Team.

Prior to Ohio: plays soccer for the Classics Eagles. She played all four years at Olentangy Liberty High School, earning her varsity letter three times. Abby was named captain for the Classics Eagles two years in a row. The team was named First Team All-Conference 2016 and 2017, First Team All-District in 2016 and 2017 and Second Team All-State in 2016. Abby set a school record for the most goals scored in a single season, 21.  

Personal: She is the daughter of Wendi Senhauser and Jim Townsend and has two older sisters, Sydney and Katie. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, working out, spending time with her friends and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
