Athens, Ohio --
A gritty battle at Chessa Field resulted in the Bobcats (10-7-2) falling to the Miami Redhawks (9-4-6). The final score of the MAC tournament quarterfinals was 1-0 proving to be a great contest between the two Ohio schools.

In the first 45 minutes of play the Bobcats fired 7 shots compared to Miami's 4. Both defenses held strong not allowing any goals, but it was Ohio's forward, Abby Townsend who had a game changing non-goalkeeper save. Townsend knocked out a Miami cross on the goal line after it took a turn past Sam Wexell in the 39th minute of play. Goalkeeper Sam Wexell also had great stops in net saving 3 in the first half and 1 in the second.

The second half continued to be a battle for the Bobcats with instant pressure coming from Miami. Maia Kaufman, Regan Berg, Carsyn Prigge, and Quintin Tostevin all got two shots off, but it was Regan Berg who had 2 shots on goal forcing saves from Miami goalkeeper Izzie Vaccari. The Redhawks responded to the challenge, scoring in the 73rd minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. Ohio readjusted after the Miami goal and created more opportunities to score in attempt to equalize the half as it drew closer to 90 minutes. Ultimately, the Bobcats were unable to capitalize and send the game into overtime.

Ohio's season comes to a close with the loss against Miami. Within the past year Ohio was faced with many obstacles, Coaches Aaron Rodgers and Cortney Wiesler led the team to be stronger because of these challenges and reflect on the season; "I think the most important thing is that the team enjoyed the process. They realized that whatever role you're given inside an organization, make the most of it. If you're playing 90 minutes a game or you don't have the opportunity to play, you still are valuable, and you are valuable to this organization's success, and how can you bring your best self every day to work or to your family, or to wherever you are impacting others? And we tell them all the time, how can you build people up? Because what we want is for people to leave here building people up."
