MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ohio soccer team picked up a point on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 14) in their match against Ball State (4-7-2, 2-3-2), as the Bobcats (9-3-2, 5-0-2) played to a scoreless draw in double overtime.

Ohio's defense was key to the success of the team, as the Bobcats improved on their unbeaten conference record. Ball State applied pressure in the first half, with Ohio's back line being forced to turn away several opportune goal scoring moments.

"Another very gritty performance on the road," noted head coach Aaron Rodgers. "Ball State is a very good team and really pushed us. I'm very proud of how our team made adjustments at halftime time and played the 2nd half and overtime very well."

After allowing Ball State to take seven total shots in the first 45 minutes, the Ohio offense responded after the break. The Bobcats took seven shots of their own in the second half, while holding the Cardinals to just two shots. In the overtime period, the Ohio offensive attack found their rhythm, putting three shots on goal. Ball State's defense held strong however, and ensured the contest would end in a 0-0 tie.

Abby Townsend led Ohio's offensive effort on the stat sheet, as she took three total shots (two on goal). Paige Knorr, Carsyn Prigge, Olivia Darrow, and Regan Berg all had one shot on goal.

Defensively, goalkeeper Sam Wexell continued her strong play and made two saves en route to tallying yet another clean sheet. Two out of the four starting defenders played all 110 minutes (Ella Bianco, Knorr), while the other two defenders (Olivia Sensky, Morgan Collica) played 100 and 97 minutes respectively.

Picking up the one point ensured the Bobcats will stay atop the Mid-American Conference table after all games are completed on Oct. 14, with four more matchdays to go.
