YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ohio women's basketball team (8-5, 6-4 MAC) fell to Eastern Michigan (8-7, 6-4 MAC), 69-66, on Wednesday evening at the EMU Convocation Center.

Senior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) led Ohio with her first double-double of the season after posting 29 points and 11 rebounds. Hooks was 12-of-27 from the field and five of her 11 boards were on the offensive glass. Hooks is now averaging 26.1 points per game this season.

"Cece (Hooks) gave us a chance tonight. We just weren't able to capitalize on it," head coach Bob Boldon said. "Her energy and effort gave us a chance to win, but it just wasn't our night. We made some nice, spectacular individual plays, but we did need to clean up our offense. We were sloppy at times. We knew this was going to be a tough one. EMU is a very good team and trying to win here is a tough task."

Redshirt junior guard Erica Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) had 13 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward Gabby Burris (Baltimore, Ohio) added 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting with one made three and seven rebounds.

Redshirt junior guard Kaylee Bambule (Plainfield, Ill.) knocked down three from behind the arc and finished with nine points.

Overall, Ohio was 26-of-70 (37.1 percent) from the field and 6-of-22 (27.3 percent) from the three-point line. EMU shot 28-of-64 (43.8 percent) and 4-of-20 (20.0 percent) from deep.

Ohio was down 31-25 after a low scoring first half and cut the lead to 47-44 after the third quarter. The pace picked up in the fourth quarter, and Ohio was able to grab the lead with 5:19 left at 52-51 after a Johnson layup. Both teams traded scores until two Hooks free throws gave Ohio another lead with 3:02 remaining. EMU regained the lead and pushed the advantage to six with 11 seconds left before Johnson hit a fast break three with six seconds left. Hooks earned a steal with five seconds left after the made three, but Ohio was unable to get a shot off to tie the game.

Ohio forced 15 EMU turnovers and had seven steals, with Johnson, Hooks and Bambule all recording two. The Bobcats tallied 16 points off of turnovers compared to 10 for the Eagles.

The Bobcats will continue Mid-American Conference play on Saturday, January 27, in a home contest against Akron. Tip-off at the Convocation Center is set for 1 p.m. ET.
