SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ohio Women's Basketball redshirt junior guard Erica Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) has been named to the 2021 Cheryl Miller Award watch list, the Basketball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 11). The Cheryl Miller Award recognizes the top small forward in NCAA Division I basketball.

The Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. By early-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2021 Miller Award will be narrowed to just 10 with the help of fan voting. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Fan voting can be found here.

The 2021 Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award will be presented on Friday, April 9, 2021, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award, the Katrina McClain Power Forward Award, and the Lisa Leslie Center Award, in addition to the Men's Starting Five. Senior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) is nominated for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award.

Johnson was on the All-MAC first team after finishing fourth in the league in points per game with a team-best 18.6. Johnson averaged 21.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference play. She had 30 or more points in a game three times this season, including a career-high 36 against Kent State on the road. Johnson garnered the program's first triple-double, and became a 1,000 point scorer for Ohio in the MAC Tournament win over Western Michigan.
