NILES, Ohio.– The Ohio Baseball team (14-24, 8-7 MAC) won its fourth-straight game after taking down Youngstown State (9-32, 5-13 Horizon League), 3-2, on Tuesday evening at Eastwood Field.

Freshman Matt Brosky (Strongsville, Ohio) earned his first career win after pitching 1.0 innings and did not allow a run to score. Brosky fanned two batters in the seventh and faced the minimum. Freshman LHP Joe Rock (Aliquippa, Pa.) started for Ohio and tossed 6.0 innings while allowing one earned run. Rock struckout four batters and did not walk any.

Freshman RHP Braxton Kelly (Ulysses, Ky.) grabbed his first career save after shutting the door on YSU in the ninth. Kelly struckout two batters and faced the minimum.

Junior LHP Nick Byrnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) fanned the only batter he faced. Redshirt senior RHP Nick Kamrada pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one earned run on one hit.

Ohio did not walk a batter in the game while YSU walked seven. Youngstown State had five hits while Ohio had two.

Senior 1B Rudy Rott (Holmen, Wis.) tied the game in the sixth inning with a double and finished 1-for-3 with a double, a hit by pitch and one RBI.

Youngstown State scored in the bottom of the first inning when Blaze Glenn grounded out to shortstop to score a run.

Ohio tied the game in the top half of the sixth inning when Rott ripped a double to center field that scored redshirt freshman OF Ryan Sargent (Algonquin, Ill.). Sargent reached on a walk and was moved over on a sacrifice bunt and fly out.

The Bobcats took the lead in the eighth. After freshman INF Ryan Strittmather (Elyria Catholic) and Sargent walked, Rott was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Redshirt sophomore INF Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Sargent. Strittmather made it 3-1 Ohio when he scored on a wild pitch.

Richardson ended the game 0-for-3 with an RBI. Strittmather reached base twice after going 1-for-3 with a single, walk and run scored.

YSU cut the Ohio lead to 3-2 on a ground out to the shortstop that scored Cameron Murray, who reached with a triple but was unable to tie the game.

The Bobcats will be back in action this weekend at Bob Wren Stadium. Ohio will take on Kent State to continue Mid-American Conference play. The first game of the series will take place on Friday at 6 p.m.
