Graduate student infielder Colton Shirley (Anderson, Ind.) tallied the Bobcats' lone RBI in the game with a single in the seventh. Senior outfielder Cam Hill (Chicago, Ill.) scored one of Ohio's runs after reaching on a single in the seventh.

Freshman lefthander Evan Lichtenauer (Newark, Ohio) got the start for Ohio, pitching five innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with a strikeout. In relief, junior righty Ethan Stewart (Langsville, Ohio) pitched one and two-thirds innings, striking out and allowing no runs on one hit.

Lichtenauer got off to a good start, pitching back-to-back scoreless frames before Morehead State got on the board in the third with a run.

The game remained 1-0 till the Eagles took a big lead with six total runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Morehead State took a 7-0 lead into the game's final three innings.

In the seventh, Ohio put its first runs of the game on the board. Hill got the rally started with a one-out single to give the Bobcats a base runner. Shirley would bring Hill around to score later in the inning on a one-out single before an error brought around a second Ohio.

Despite scoring two runs earlier in the inning, Morehead State responded with three of its own in the bottom half of the seventh to take a 10-2 lead into the eighth.
