ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio golfers Erin Cahill and Megan Weaver closed with 76's on the final day of the University of Cincinnati's Spring Invitational from the Plantation Golf Resort in Crystal River, Florida. The Bobcats finished 13th out of 23 teams.
Cahill and Weaver finished the tournament tied for 32nd and Sarah Tranelli was third among the Bobcats after firing a final-round 79. Jordan Fesh finished with an 83 while Kara Brinkmann closed with an 85. Meryl Weaver, who golfed unattached, shot rounds of 80-77-77.
North Texas overtook Morehead State and ran away from the field, winning by 13 strokes. Florida Southern stayed in third place while Campbell jumped over Stetson and the two schools finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Florida Gulf Coast's Briana Carlson jumped from fourth to first and won the tournament with a final-round 67. She held off North Dakota State's Amy Anderson, who roared back into contention with a 69 and finished three shots out. Morehead State's Paige Lausier stayed in third, while Stetson's Alex Buelow and Florida Southern's Marianne Andersson, who were tied for the lead entering the final round, finished fourth and fifth.
Ohio takes part in the Spring Challenge Cup at The Hawthorn's Golf & Country Club in Fishers, Indiana next weekend.
