ATHENS, Ohio - Four Ohio golfers finished with sub-80 rounds on the first day of the University of Cincinnati's Spring Invitational from the Plantation Golf Resort in Crystal River, Florida. The Bobcats sit in a tie for ninth out of 23 teams after the first round of play.
Erin Cahill and Jordan Fesh each finished with 77's and led the Bobcats to a cumulative score of 310 during the first round of action. Those scores had them tied for 33rd overall while Megan Weaver and Sarah Tranelli each shot 78's and are tied for 48th.
The `Cats are tied with Houston Baptist and sit only nine shots out of the top five. Morehead State leads the field with a score of 290, five shots ahead of Florida Southern. Campbell (300), Elon (301) and North Texas (301) round out the top five.
Morehead State's Paige Lausier shot a 69 to lead the individual tournament with Florida Southern's Emily Flanigan sitting one shot behind her. North Texas' Kelsey Kipp is tied for third with North Dakota State's Amy Anderson, two shots back of the lead and FSU's Marianne Andersson is fifth after shooting a 72.
Second-round tee times will be on Saturday followed by a third-round shotgun start on Sunday.
