Athens, Ohio - After one day and two rounds of golf at the 2010 MAC Championship from the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, the Ohio men's golf team sits in fifth place.
Chuck Nettles (McMurray, Pa.) made a push during the afternoon to move up to 12th place. After shooting a 77 over the first 18 holes, the junior shot a second-round 73 for a single-day total of 6-over par.
Chad Warmbein (McMurray, Pa.) was tied for sixth after the morning session where he shot a 2-over 74. However, the senior fell four shots off his own pace and currently sits second among the Bobcats, tied for 17th overall at +8 through two rounds.
Paul Grauer (Dublin, Ohio) is 25th overall with two rounds of sub-80 play. He is currently +11 with an opening-round 78 and an afternoon total of 77. Stewart Jamieson (Worthington, Ohio) and Tim Gusweiler (Loveland, Ohio) each improved this afternoon with respective scores of 78 and 77. They each sit at +14 heading into tomorrow's action.
After the second round, Ohio sits in fifth place after trimming four shots off their first-round score. The Bobcats are six shots behind Akron and seven behind Miami. Kent State jumped Eastern Michigan for the overall team lead and is in front of the Eagles by six strokes.
Brett Cairns of Kent State, the No. 79-ranked golfer in the nation, leads the field at 2-under after shooting a second-round 67. His teammate Mackenzie Hughes shot consecutive 72's to sit two shots back in second place. EMU's Marty Jeppesen slipped into a tie for third after leading the tournament through 18 holes. He sits at +1 with Nathan Sunderland of Miami. Cam Burke, who had a hole-in-one during the first round moved into a tie for fifth along with John Hahn of KSU.
