State College, Pa. - The Ohio University women's golf team is tied for ninth at the Nittany Lion Invitational after the first day Saturday. Megan Weaver finished the day tied for 13th after shooting a 76 and 75 in the two rounds.
Weaver finished +7 over par, while sister Meryl finished tied for 37th after shooting a 76 and 80. Sarah Tranelli ended her day on a good note tied for 47th, following up her first-round 83 with a second-round 74. Jordan Fesh tied for 57th while Kristen Helmsdoerfer struggled at 92nd place.
Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan tied Penn State for first place at the event with overall scores of 600. Rollins finished close behind at third place with a 604 overall, while William and Mary and Harvard tied for fourth, both finishing with 606. The Bobcats tallied a two-day total of 623.
Western Michigan's Kaylee Imel won the event with a score of +1, while Yale's Seo Hee Moon, Rollins's Fabia Rothenfluh, and Ball State's Brittany Kelly all finished at +2.
Final-round action is set to get under way Sunday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Bobcats will then travel to the Rosemont Country Club in Fairlawn, Ohio in two weeks to compete in the Zippy Invitational.
