YORKTOWN, Ind. - A day after her sister shot a career-best 76 in the first round of the Cardinal Classic, junior Lauren Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) did the same, leading the Ohio University women's golf team to a seventh-place finish (626, +50) with a six-over 76 on Tuesday.
The performance bettered Bergman's career best by a stroke and sent her to a career-best 36-hole score of 154 (+10), good for a 19th-place tie. Bergman's finish also marked the second top-20 showing of her career.
Senior Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) wasn't far behind her sister on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 21st with a total of 155 (+11) after wrapping up the tournament with a seven-over 79. Sophomore Jordan Fesh (Toledo, Ohio) and freshman Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) both finished in a tie for 40th place with totals of 159 (+19) after shooting final rounds of 79 and 81, respectively, while junior Colleen Lienesch (Centerville, Ohio) made a four-stroke improvement over her day-one score to post an 80 on Tuesday and finish in a tie for 57th with a total of 164 (+24).
The Bobcats will have just a six-day span before beginning their next tournament, the Zippy Invitational, at Rosemont Country Club on Monday, Sept. 29.
