Ohio Finishes the Rio Verde Invitational Tied for Eighth Place

RIO VERDE, AZ – The Ohio Women's Golf team started its spring season in Rio Verde, Arizona, at the Rio Verde Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University on February 20-22, at the Rio Verde Country Club. The Bobcats started junior Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio), senior Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, AZ), senior Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio), sophomore Ally Turner (Miamisburg, Ohio), and freshman Katie Husted (Columbus, Ohio). Overall, the Bobcats finished tied for eighth place, with McRee being the highest Bobcat finisher, ending tied for fourth place.

Bradley University (+21) took the top spot at the invitational, with Xavier (+25) finishing in second place, Missouri State (+29) and Bowling Green (+29) finishing tied for third, and Wichita State (+37) and Ball State (+37) finishing tied for fifth.

As a team, Ohio shot a 301 (+13) on day one of the invitational and finished the day in seventh place. On day two of competition, Ohio shot a 302 (+14) and finished tied for seventh place. On the final day of competition, Ohio finished the invitational tied for eighth-place with a score of 303 (+15), finishing with an overall score of 906 (+42).

Individually, both McRee and Luebbers finished in the top 10, with McRee finishing tied for fourth. On the first day of competition, McRee shot a 75 (+3) and ended the day in 24th place. On day two of competition, McRee shot a 73 (+1) and jumped 15 spots to end the day tied for ninth. McRee finished the invitational with a score of 71 (-1) and climbed five more spots to finish tied for fourth place. McRee finished with an overall score of 219 (+3).

Luebbers was consistently in the top 10 over the entire weekend, shooting a round one score of 73(+1), ending day in fifth place.On the second day of the weekend, Luebbers finished in fourth place with a score of 72(E). On the last day of the weekend, Luebbers shot a 76 (+4) and finished tied for ninth. Overall, Luebbers finished with a total score of 221 (+5).

Rodgers finished tied for 44th place with an overall score of 231 (+15). On the first day of the weekend, Rodgers finished with a score of 76(+4) and ended the day in 33rd place. During day two of competition, Rodgers shot a 79 (+7) and finished the day tied for 54th place. On the final day, Rodgers finished with a score of 76 (+4).

Turner finished day one of the invitational with a score of 77(+5), finished day two shooting a 78(+6), and ended the weekend with a score of 85 (+13). Turner finished with an overall score of 240(+24) and ended tied for 82nd place.

Husted finished day one of the competition with a score of 83(+11), ended day two with a score of 83(+11), and finished the invitational shooting her best score of the weekend, 80(+8). Husted finished in 90th place with an overall score of 246(+30).  

The Bobcats return to the course next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 3-4) for the 2026 River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC Wilmington at River Landing Golf Course.
