UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Ohio women's golf team completed its participation in the Nittany Lion Invitational on Monday with a 10th place finish in the event.
Playing the 6,300-yard Blue Course at Penn State, the Ohio women compiled a team score of 982 in the 36-hole event that featured 14 teams. The Bobcats ended up five strokes behind Boston College for ninth place and seven ahead of Bowling Green.
Erin Cahill (Hilliard, Ohio) led the way for Ohio with a 244 which tied her for 32nd in the field of 73 golfers. She shot an Ohio tournament-best 78 in Monday's final round.
Colleen Lienesch (Centerville, Ohio) and Lauren Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) tied for 43rd with 249s in the tournament after both shot 82s on Monday. Lauren's sister Lindsay Bergman compiled a 250 to tie for 48th and Katie Stafford (Phoenix, Ariz.) rounded out Ohio's card with a 254 which tied her for 58th.
Princeton took home the team title with a 910, 15 strokes ahead of Maryland. Western Michigan's Laura Bavaird edged out Princeton's Susannah Aboff by one stroke to take the individual medal with a 223.
The Ohio women will next be in action at the Xavier Invitational, Oct. 13-14.
