CINCINNATI - The Ohio University women's soccer team attempted nine shots Friday night but the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net as they fell to Xavier 4-0 at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.

"I thought we got outplayed and out-muscled," Head Coach Stacy Strauss said. "We looked tentative and slow and disorganized."

The Musketeers got on the board after 33 minutes of scoreless soccer for the only goal they would need. On a Xavier corner kick, Allison Osborne headed in the cross from Amber Silvis for the 1-0 lead. Silvis earned the assist on the goal, which eventually stood for the game winner.

Nine minutes later, the Musketeers took a two-goal lead when Brittany Green found the back of the net. The goal came on Xavier's 12th unanswered shot attempt and was unassisted. Green's tally came on a shot outside the box that went over freshman keeper Jess MacLean ( Loveland, Ohio ).

Xavier put things away in the 54th minute when Alison Osborne made it a 3-0 game. Osborne took a pass from Carissa Gilbert and snuck it past MacLean off a corner kick. The goal was the second of the evening off a corner for Xavier. The Musketeers finished the scoring with an Angie Scarlato goal in the 74th minute for the 4-0 outcome.

Ohio recorded the first shot of the contest, when senior midfielder Tiffany Horvath ( Strongsville, Ohio ) sent a shot on goal that was saved in the 10th minute. The chance would be the last for the Bobcats for quite awhile, as Xavier attempted the next 12 shots, including seven on goal. Ohio 's next shot attempt came in the 45th minute by senior forward Lindsey Price ( West Chester, Ohio ).

The Bobcats got into a little more of an offensive rhythm in the second half, totaling seven shots in the half. The Musketeers, however, recorded nine shots of their own in the second half and finished with a 23-9 advantage in the category. Xavier also held a large advantage in corner kicks by a total of seven to one.

"We did look to play a little big quicker (in the second half)," Strauss said.

MacLean played the entire contest in goal for the Bobcats, allowing the four goals and making seven saves. Kelly Farrell played all but five minutes in net for Xavier, recording five saves without allowing a goal. Horvath led all Bobcats with three shots. Freshman Jasmine Merith ( Richmond Hills, Ontario ) tallied two shots on goal in the contest while fellow freshman Amy Lower ( Hamilton, Ohio ) tallied two shots and one on goal.

Ohio drops to 1-3-0 on the season with the loss while Xavier improves to 2-3-0 on the season and wins their second straight match. The Bobcats will return home Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest against Pittsburgh at Chessa Field.
