The Ohio football team (0-1) is back in action for its home opener against Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 12. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET inside Peden Stadium and can be seen on ESPN+ with Joe Tordy and LaDarrin McLane on the call. The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on The Varsity Sports Network. Veteran Ohio radio personality Marty Bannister is reprising his role as Ohio's play-by-play broadcaster. Bannister will be joined by color analyst Rob Cornelius, who has been part of the broadcasts for more than two decades.
This matchup marks the second time the two teams have clashed. The Bobcats defeated the Gamecocks at the 2024 StaffDNA Cure Bowl, where Ohio clinched its first 11-win season in program history with a 30-27 victory at Camping World Stadium.
Ohio is coming off a 49-21 defeat at Nebraska on Saturday, which included many strong individual performances. Graduate student quarterback Nick Poulos threw for 164 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Riley Neer was his top target, hauling in six receptions for 104 yards and a score. Graduate student kicker Will Hryszko also made his mark, connecting on two field goals, including a career-long 45-yarder. Defensively, redshirt sophomore safety JT Haskins and redshirt senior linebacker Jack Fries paced the Bobcats with eight tackles apiece. Redshirt freshman defensive end Ike Ackerman was a disruptive force up front, recording two sacks and four total tackles.
Jax State is 1-1 this season after falling to North Dakota State to open the season, before knocking off Eastern Kentucky, 49-7, on Saturday in Jacksonville. The Gamecocks totaled 526 yards of offense, with 352 through the air. Caden Creel completed 21-of-28 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns. Wide receiver Jamill Williams finished with seven catches, 144 yards and four scores. Jax State rushed for 174 yards, with Jalen Likely leading the charge with 73 yards and one touchdown.

Ohio Women's Golf opens the 2026 season Sept. 6-7 when they head to the 2026 A-Ga-Ming Invitational. The two-day event is hosted by Central Michigan and is set to take place at the Sundance Golf Course in Kewadin, Mich. The event will see 36 holes played on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. ET, with the final 18 scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. ET.
Schools competing at this year's event are; Central Michigan, Oakland, Loyola Chicago, Detroit Mercy, Murray State, Western Michigan, Bellarmine, Green bay, Bowling Green, Ohio. Bradley, Chicago State and Indiana State.
The Bobcats return six members from last year's squad, including senior Zoe Luebbers and the 2026 MAC Women's Golf Sportswoman of the Year honoree in senior Morgan Rodgers.
CROSS COUNTRY

The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams return for week two of the 2026 season. The teams are set to compete at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State, on Friday, Sept. 11. The meet will kick off with the college women's 6k race at 9 a.m. ET followed by the college men's 8k race at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Michigan State will also host the 2026 Great Lakes Regional Championships later this season. Both Ohio teams were ranked in the USTFCCCA Preseason Great Lakes Region rankings. The women were picked eighth while the men were ranked 11th in the region.
Last time out, both teams won the women's and men's 5k races at Bowling Green's Mel Brodt Collegiate Open. The individual winners from each race also came from Ohio. Senior Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) won the women's 5k with a PR of 17:57.0. Junior Elliot Zuckett took home first for the men with a time of 15:19.6.

Field hockey (2-2) is back in Athens for their Alumni Weekend, celebrating 75 years of Ohio Field Hockey. The weekend begins on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. when the current team takes on some alumni in a fun scrimmage at Pruitt Field. Ohio is back in action for real on Sunday, Sept. 13 when the Bobcats take on Davidson (2-3). First touch is set for Noon ET at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+. It is Alumni Day at the field with the 75th Anniversary Celebration. All fans will receive a 75th Anniversary Logo Rally Towel.
Ohio is coming off a 1-1 weekend that saw the Bobcats defeat Queens, 3-2, in a last second thriller, before falling to No. 7 Wake Forest on Sunday. Sophomore Tori Cisney played a huge part in Ohio's 3-2 comeback win over Queens, scoring her first two goals of the season, including the game-winning goal with less than two minutes left in the fourth period. For the weekend, Cisney ended with two goals and a shot percentage of 1.000. Following a goal in the first home stand of the year last week, junior Deborah James found the back of the net in both of Ohio's contests this weekend. She scored one of Ohio's three unanswered goals in the comeback win over Queens and scored against Wake Forest on Sunday. She has scored all three of her goals on the season off penalty corners, and her defense helped keep Queens from scoring for over 40 minutes while the Bobcats earned their first road win of the year.
Davidson is 2-3 overall and are coming off an overtime loss at Maine on Sunday. Lourdes Wolf leads Davidson with four goals and eight points, while seven other Wildcats have scored. In goal, Avery Foster has played and started four games for Davidson, allowing two goals and recording 11 saves for a .846 save percentage. Davidson will play Longwood at home on Friday before traveling to Athens.

Ohio volleyball (4-2, 0-0 MAC) continues nonconference play this week with two big matchups at Penn State. The Bobcats' first game will be played against the Nittany Lions on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. ET and be seen on BIG+. Ohio will conclude the weekend with Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
Ohio has a 4-2 overall record heading into the weekend. The Bobcats average 14.53 kills, 13.58 assists, 1.47 aces, 13.58 digs and 2.00 blocks per set. As a team, Ohio currently has a .289 hitting percentage.
No. 12 Penn State has a 3-1 record heading into the week. Prior to the weekend competition, the Nittany Lions will face DePaul on Monday, Sept. 7. Penn State averages 12.9 kills, 11.6 assists, 1.9 aces, 13.06 digs and 2.1 blocks per set. The Nittany Lions currently have a .241 hitting percentage.
Stanford has a 4-0 overall record heading into the week. Prior to the weekend competition, the Cardinals will face Texas A&M for the ACC/SEC Showdown at the Net. Stanford averages 13.4 kills, 12.3 assists, 1.4 aces, 15.5 digs and 2.8 blocks per set. The Cardinals currently have a .256 team hitting percentage.

This week, Ohio soccer (2-3-0) closes out nonconference play this Sunday, Sept. 13 when the Bobcats head to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on Duquesne (3-3). First touch is set for 1 p.m. ET at Rooney Field and can be seen o ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off an 0-2 week that saw the Bobcats battle two Power Four opponents in Pitt and Indiana. Senior Jaimason Brooker and junior Lillian Weller bother scored for the Bobcats in Sunday's matchup against Indiana. Brooker now leads Ohio with three goals and six points, while freshmen Meaghan Cochrane and Camille Francis and Weller all have two goals and four points each.
Duquesne is 3-3 overall and is coming off a loss at home against Toledo last Thursday. Kaitlyn Killinger leads Duquesne with two goals and four points, while Brynn Ramsey also has four points in the way of one goal and two assists. In goal, Ali Hughes has played and started all six matches, allowing six goals and making 35 saves for a .854 save percentage. Duquesne will take on Youngstown State on the road on Thursday before hosting the Bobcats.
