ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio soccer team (2-3-0) returned to action Sunday afternoon (Sept. 6), falling to Indiana (3-2-1), 3-2, at Chessa Field.

Overall, Ohio scored two goals on eight shots with five on goal, while Indiana scored three goals on 13 shots with six on goal. Indiana registered six corners compared to Ohio's four.

Individually, senior Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) scored a goal on one shot, while junior Lilian Weller (Xenia, Ohio) added a goal of her own. Freshman Camille Francis (Perrysburg, Ohio), junior Iro Fakinou (Athens, Greece) and senior Melia Peer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) all recorded one shot with one shot on goal.

In goal, sophomore Bella Wyatt (Noblesville, Ind.) got the start, allowing three goals while making three saves in 90 minutes.

The Indiana offense got off to a fast start, taking a 1-0 lead off a corner kick in the sixth minute. After the Hoosiers kept up the pressure, they struck again in the 16^th minute, taking an early 2-0 lead.

The Indiana offense kept the pressure on the Bobcats, not allowing Ohio to record much action in their own end of the field, until the 33^rd minute when Brooker fired a ball between the legs of the Indiana keeper to get Ohio on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1.

After the goal, the Ohio offense picked up, recording three-straight corner kicks in the 40^th minute. However, the Indiana defense kept Ohio off the board, sending the game to the half with the Bobcats trailing, 2-1.

In the half, Ohio recorded three shots to Indiana's six, while IU took five corners to the Bobcats' three.

The two teams traded attempts over the opening minutes of the second half. Ohio's best attempts to tie the game up came in the 71^st minute, on three-straight shots on goal, with two saved by the keeper and the last by the Indiana defense in a wide-open net, keeping their lead at 2-1.

Indiana added to their lead moments later, taking a 3-1 lead in the 74^th minute.

Indiana kept up the pressure on the Ohio offense over the remaining minutes; however, Ohio cut the lead to one with under two minutes to go when Weller capitalized on a penalty kick. However, the Indiana defense held Ohio at bay over the final minute, securing the 3-2 win.

Up next, the Bobcats conclude nonconference play on Sunday, Sept. 13 when Ohio heads to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on Duquesne. First touch is set for 1 p.m. ET.
