HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Ohio volleyball team (3-0, 0-0) swept Marshall (2-1, 0-0 SBC) 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-17) in its final game of the Marshall Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Ohio finished with 55 kills, three aces, eight blocks, 51 assists and 46 digs. Marshall finished with 33 kills, four aces, one block, 32 assists and 35 digs. The Bobcats recorded a .376 team hitting percentage and held the Thundering Herd to a .182 percentage.

Freshman Rose Mahin (Franklin, Ind.) recorded an impressive .545 attack percentage with a team-high 14 kills and only two errors on 22 total attacks. Sophomore Bailey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) also led the team with 14 kills in addition to a team-high 16.5 points. Senior Torre Kildow (Bethesda, Ohio) was the third Bobcats to finish with double-digit kills, tallying 10 total.

Freshman Rowan Kelly (Akron, Ohio) distributed a season-high and team-high 42 assists. Kelly also finished with three kills, five digs, 3.5 points and one block assist.

Mahin was also top performer, defensively, for Ohio, recording a team-high 13 digs. Blair added 10 digs and three block assists. Sophomore Lacy Marx (Evansville, Ind.) and Kildow combined for 16 digs total. Senior Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) led Ohio at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists. Gardner also contributed eight kills and 11.5 points.

Ohio earned an early 1-0 lead after winning the first set in a 27-25 decision. The Bobcats got off to good start, taking a quick 10-5 lead over Marshall. The Thundering Herd rallied back and took a 13-12 lead over the Bobcats. The two teams traded points back-and-forth, forcing the set into extra points. With Ohio and Marshall tied at 25-25, an ace from Blair gave the Bobcats the advantage. Kildow followed that up with a major block on Marshall, giving Ohio the set.

The Bobcats extended their lead to 2-0 with a 25-16 victory in the second set. Halfway through the set, Ohio only led Marshall 15-14. After the break, the Bobcats' offense unleashed with 6-0 scoring run and Ohio established a 21-14 lead over Marshall. Ohio's momentum continued through the end of the set. Back-to-back kills and a combined blocking effort by Blair and Gardner sealed the second set for the Bobcats.

Both teams traded points back-and-forth in the beginning of the third set. Early on, Ohio held a slight 7-5 lead over Marshall. Once again, the Bobcats were in control of the momentum and began to pull away from the Thundering Herd. Ohio went on to win the third set, 25-17, and complete the 3-0 sweep over Marshall.

The Bobcats will be back in action at the Hampton Inn Invitational on Sept. 3-5. Ohio will kick off the invitational at IU Indy on Thursday, Sept. 3. First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET and fan will be able to watch on ESPN+.
