ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Baseball team (10-27, 7-21 MAC) opened up their final home series of the 2026 season with a walk-off extra inning win over the Toledo Rockets (25-25, 18-10 MAC).
Â
On the hill, freshman Mason Gass (Oakdale, Pa.) delivered a strong performance allowing two runs on seven hits and two errors across six and two thirds innings. Senior Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) came on in relief in the seventh inning and went the rest of the way, allowing one run on three hits and one error in going three and a third innings and earning the win.
Â
Offensively, junior left fielder Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.) provided a spark for the Bobcats, going two-for-five with two of the Bobcat's four RBI's, including a game-tying two run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Â
After a scoreless first two frames, the Rockets got on the board with two runs in the top of the fifth.
Â
The Bobcats would answer in the bottom of the fourth, when senior outfielder Taylor Harris (Parrish, Fla.) led off the inning with a double to right center. Up next, Boyd delivered driving an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to tie the game.
Â
Gass would cruise through the next two frames, holding the Rockets scoreless and handing the ball to Masters in the seventh.
Â
The Bobcats would take the lead in the seventh when sophomore outfielder Brady Alexander (Glenshaw, Pa.) grounded out with the bases loaded, scoring redshirt junior shortstop Cam Bryant (Miamisburg, Ohio).
Â
The Rockets would tie the game in the top of the eighth inning, and the Bobcats were unable to take the lead back in the eighth or ninth, sending the game to extra innings.
Â
After Masters shut down the Toledo bats in the top of the tenth, the Bobcats looked to end the game in the bottom frame.
Â
Harris got the rally started with a single to left field, before Boyd doubled, moving Harris to third and setting the table for fifth year infielder Will Henson (Chicago, Ill.). Henson came through with a single to right, driving in Harris for the game-winning run.
Â
The Bobcats will return to action tomorrow afternoon for the second of their three-game set against Toledo. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. ET at Bob Wren Stadium, and can be viewed on ESPN+.
