Greenwell Qualifies for the 2026 NCAA DI East First Round in Lexington

ATHENS, Ohio – Junior Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) will represent the Ohio women's track and field program at the 2026 NCAA DI East First Rounds, hosted by Kentucky, on May 27-30 in Lexington, Ky. After qualifying for the women's 1500m, Greenwell is the first Bobcats to earn a bid to regionals since 2021.

Greenwell will compete in the first round of the women's 1500m at 6:30 PM ET on Thursday, May 28. The quarterfinals for the women's 1500m will take place on at 5:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 30.

This is a well-deserved first for Greenwell, making her inaugural appearance in the NCAA preliminary rounds. The junior has experienced a slew of success this outdoor season. Greenwell recently capped off the 2026 MAC Outdoor Championships by winning the silver medal in the women's 1500m and placing fifth in the women's 800m, earning herself All-MAC Second Team honors. The junior has been responsible for several of the program's top performances this season including her times in both the 1500m and 800m.
