COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio women's track & field concluded its second, and final, day of competition at the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday, May 2.
Ohio's top performers of the day were sophomore
Mairin O'Brien (Lewis Center, Ohio) in the women's 3000m steeplechase and junior
Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) in the women's 800m. O'Brien took home second place in the steeplechase with a PR of 10:31.00. The sophomore's time is the second-fastest steeplechase time in program history. Greenwell placed fifth in the 800m with a PR of 2:08.53, the fourth-fastest outdoor time in program history.
Sophomore
Lauren Mader led Ohio's field events with a top three placement in the women's discus. Mader placed third with a personal-best mark of 47.53 meters (155-11).
Freshmen
Zoey Caldwell and
Savannah Hunter (Portsmouth, Va.) both competed in the semifinals of the 100m hurdles and qualified for the finals. Caldwell won her heat in the semifinals with a time of 14.46 (+5.4w) and went on to place fifth in the finals with a time of 14.47). Hunter qualified for the finals with a time of 14.65 (+3.2w) and placed sixth overall with a PR of 14.61.
Freshman
Alyvia Mentlow raced in the 100m semifinals, qualifying for the finals with a sixth-place time of 11.96 (+2.5w). Mentlow placed fourth overall with a time of 11.81 (+3.7w).
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Akron Invitational on Wednesday, May 6.
