
Boussedra & Harris Record Top Program Times in 5k, Leading Ohio on Day 1 of the Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio women's track & field concluded day one of the Jesse Owens Classic on Friday, May 1.
Ohio's top performers of the day were senior Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) and graduate student Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) in the women's 5,000 meters. Boussedra placed second with a personal-best time of 16:20.70, ranking fifth all-time for the outdoor 5000m in program history. Harris recorded the fourth-fastest outdoor time in program history, 16:23.18, and placed fourth overall.
Two other Bobcats were also top performers in the women's 5000m. Sophomore Kaitlyn Stewart (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) placed seventh with a PR of 16:38.48. Senior Allie Martin (Kingwood, W. Va.) placed eighth overall with a time of 16:43.90.
Ohio saw success in the women's hammer throw. Freshman Aubree Beery (Lancaster, Ohio) led the Bobcats with a 12th-place finish (50.55./165-10). Sophomores Ashley Cornathan (Hilliard, Ohio) and Kiyah Baker (Troy, Ohio) both recorded new PR's in the event. Cornathan threw a personal-best mark of 47.12 meters (154-7) and Baker finished with a personal-best mark of 41.18 meters (135-1).
Sophomore Ava Kincaid (Perrysburg, Ohio) took home fourth place in the women's 400m hurdles (1:02.03). Sophomore Elisabeth Franczyk (Washington, Pa.) finished in 12th place (1:05.60) and freshman Zoey Caldwell finished in 13th place (1:05.87).
Junior Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) won the women's 1500m with a time of 4:25.59. Senior Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) placed 13th with a time of 4:34.08.
Freshman Kewogo Bendick earned a respectable finish in the women's long jump. Bendick placed fifth with a mark of 5.66 meters (18-7).
Freshman Alyvia Mentlow led Ohio in the women's 200m, placing fifth with a time of 24.22.
The Bobcats will be back in action for day two of the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday, May 2.
