OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (7-27, 4-13 MAC) fell to conference opponent Miami (21-12, 11-6 MAC) in the second game of the 'Battle of the Bricks' series in seven innings, 15-5, on Saturday, April 11.

Ohio recorded five runs on five hits and committed three errors, while Miami had 15 runs with 14 hits and committed three errors.

On the mound, sophomore Hunter Winston (Hinckley, Ohio) got the start, allowing seven runs on five hits in 3.1 innings pitched, walking four and striking out two. Junior Ethan Stewart (Langsville, Ohio) allowed four runs on three hits, walking two and striking one in 1.1 innings pitched. Freshman Rylan Sams pitched two innings, allowing four runs on six hits, walking two and striking out two.

At the plate, fifth-year Will Henson (Chicago, Ill.) went 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Senior Dylan Shepherd (Barrie, Ontario) finished with two hits, an RBI and one run scored. Graduate student Colton Shirley (Anderson, Ind.) went 1-for-3 at the plate. With one run scored. Redshirt junior Cam Bryant (Miamisburg, Ohio) added an RBI and one run.

Miami held Ohio scoreless in the top of the first, then scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-0 lead.

After a scoreless second inning, a walk followed by a Shirley single put two Bobcats on base. Bryant raced home on a sacrifice fly, then Shirley took advantage of a RedHawks error to tie the game, 2-2.

The RedHawks scored one run in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead before adding four runs across the fourth and fifth innings to take the 11-2 lead entering the sixth.

Two hits and two walks loaded the bases for the Bobcats in the top of the sixth, then another walk brought a run home to set the score at 11-3. With one runner on base, Shepherd hit an RBI double to left to drive in a run. Henson followed with an RBI single to bring Shepherd across home, cutting into the deficit, 11-5.

Miami went on to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh, ultimately winning the game, 15-5, in seven innings.
