BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Ohio wrestling team is set for the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships Mar. 6-7. This year's event is hosted by Buffalo at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, N.Y. Competition on Friday, Mar. 6 with opening rounds beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
Championship Quarterfinals and Consolation Round 1 will begin on Friday (Mar. 6) 2 p.m. ET, and the day will conclude with Championship Semifinals Round 2 at 5 p.m. ET. Friday's (Mar. 7) competition will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET with Consolation Quarterfinals, with Consolation Semifinals at 1 p.m. ET. Championship rounds and third, fifth, and seventh place matches will take place at 3:00 p.m. ET. Every session will be streaming live on ESPN+, with select mats streaming on YouTube
Ohio looks to improve on last year's sixth-place finish, in hopes to dethrone Lock Haven as this year's champion. Redshirt senior
Garrett Thompson (Murrysville, Pa.) looks to defend his MAC Title at 174 lbs. from a year ago. At least year's championships in Trenton, N.J., Thompson was MAC Champion at 174 lbs, and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
At 157 lbs, redshirt junior
Derek Raike (Point Pleasant, W. Va.) looks to improve on a fifth-place finish at last year's championships.
After missing last season's championships, redshirt seniors
Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) and
Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) return with lofty goals, having each compiled undefeated regular season MAC records at 184 and 197 lbs, respectively.
