
Ohio Baseball Drops Sunday Finale at Ball State

Ohio recorded seven runs on eight hits with two errors, while Ball State had 17 runs with 17 hits and one error.
On the mound, junior AJ Dallmayer (Washington Court House, Ohio) got the start, allowing six runs on five hits in 2.2 innings pitched, walking four and striking out four. Junior Ethan Stewart (Langsville, Ohio) pitched 1.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits. Senior Landon Price (Middle Point, Ohio) allowed four runs on six hits, striking out two, in 1.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, graduate student Colton Shirley (Anderson, Ind.) went 2-for-4 with two runs. Senior Reese Harmon (Columbus, Ind.) went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Junior Taylor Harris (Parrish, Fla.) finished with two RBI on one hit. Senior Cale Steinbaugh (Georgetown, Ill.) had one hit, recording his first home run of the season and totaled two RBI. Senior Dylan Shepherd (Barrie, Ontario) and junior Cameron Boyd (Villa Hills, Ky.) each tallied one hit.
Ball State was first to strike, scoring four runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning.
Ohio opened the third inning with two runners on base. Shepherd delivered a one-RBI double to put the Bobcats on the board, then advanced to third as another run scored on a sacrifice fly. Harris followed with a single to center field, driving in Ohio's third run of the inning and cutting the deficit to 4-3.
The Cardinals responded with two runs in the bottom of the third, then added on seven runs for a 13-3 lead after five.
After a scoreless sixth inning, Steinbaugh homered to left for a two-run home run, his first of the season. A hit by pitch and walk allowed the Bobcats to score two additional runs, setting the score, 13-7.
Ball State scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, ultimately winning the game, 17-7 in seven innings.
The Bobcats will return to action for a midweek tilt at Marshall on Tuesday, March 31. First pitch is set for 6 p.m., and the game can be viewed on ESPN+.
