HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Ohio women's track & field team conclude day one of competition at the Marshall Jewel City Invitational on Friday, Feb. 6.
The Bobcats competed solely in the field events on Friday, starting with the women's collegiate shot put. Graduate student
Jasmine Correa led Ohio in the shot put with a PR and fifth-place mark of 12.77 meters (41-10.75). Sophomore
Ashley Cornathan (Hilliard, Ohio) finished right behind Correa in sixth place with a PR of 12.13 meters (39-9.75). Sophomores
Kiyah Baker (Troy, Ohio) and
Lauren Mader (Green Bay, Wis.) also placed in the top 10. Baker finished in ninth place (11.78m/38-7.75) and Mader took home 10
th place (11.49m/37-8.5). Freshman
Lyza Forson (Urbana, Ohio) placedjust outside the top 10, finishing in 11
th place (11.48m/37-8).
Ohio also had three athletes record good marks in the women's collegiate long jump. Freshman
Alexys Sterling placed seventh with a personal-best mark of 5.44 meters (17-10.25). Freshman
Kewogo Bendick matched her PR of 5.20 meters (17-0.75) and took home 11
th place. Junior
Emilee Baumann (Powell, Ohio) finished in 13
th place with a mark of 5.10 meters (16-8.75).
Junior
Abigail Cornell (Wake Forest, N.C.) placed seventh in the women's collegiate pole vault with a mark of 3.35 meters (10-11.75).
The Bobcats will be back in action for day two of the Marshall Jewel City Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7.
