ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team has added Nic Ericsson as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Andrew See on Thursday, July 10.
"We are very excited to have Nic join our staff. He brings a strong background in both catching and pitching, and his expertise in those areas will elevate our program in many ways," See said. "Nic is also tireless recruiter. He is a fantastic addition to our staff – not only as a coach but as a person. I know our players will enjoy being around him every day."
Ericsson comes to Ohio after spending one year as an assistant coach at Liberty. At Liberty, Ericsson specifically served as the catching and bullpen coach. He oversaw the day-to-day schedule for the catchers, specifically the physical training of his players. Ericsson also served a vital role in the physical and mental preparation of pitchers while coaching in and out of the bullpen.
In June 2024, Ericsson began holding coaching lessons for catchers, hitters and pitchers. In these lessons, he provides aspiring baseball players with coaching on technique, mental game and toughness.
Ericsson played collegiately at VCU from 2020-24, appearing in 159 games and making 124 starts. During his career at VCU, he tallied 93 runs, 64 RBI's and 89 hits including 13 home runs, 23 doubles and one triple. While serving as a catcher for the Rams, Ericsson totaled 996 putouts and 97 assists. Ericsson concluded his career at a three-time A10 Baseball Champion, was named to the Greenville Regional All-Tournament Team and earned a spot on the Buster Posey Award Watch List.
Ericsson earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science and business administration from VCU in 2024. He also earned a master's certificate in management and leadership from Liberty in 2025.
