ATHENS, Ohio –It's Spring Break in Athens, so that means it's MAC Tournament time in Cleveland! Ohio men's basketball looks to go dancing, while baseball and softball both battle it out in Athens. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

The fifth-seeded Ohio men's basketball team (16-15) opens play at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament March 13-15 inside Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio opens play on Thursday, March 13 when Ohio takes on No. 4 Toledo (17-14) in the MAC Quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game of the day, around 1:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on ESPN+. With a win, the Bobcats would advance to the MAC Semifinals on Friday, March 14 at 5 p.m. ET against either N. 1 Akron or No. 8 Bowling Green. That game can be seen on CBS Sports Network. If there Bobcats were to win, the 2025 MAC Championship game will take place on Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. 

Ohio is coming off of a tough week in which the Bobcats fell to Toeldo on Friday on the road in Toledo. Last week, both graduate student guard Shereef Mitchell and junior guard Jackson Paveletzke both surpassed 1,000 points in their career. Junior guard Elmore James averaged 15.5 points a game, while shooting 9-of-21 (.429) from the field, 7-of-14 (.500) from three and 6-of-6 (1.000) from the line. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.5 steals. On Friday night at Toledo, James scored a season-high 21 points, hitting a career-high six threes, while also going 7-of-11 from the field. He also snagged four rebounds, dished out one assist and had two steals.

Toledo is 17-14 overall and enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed after the Rockets defeated the Bobcats on Friday in Toledo. Ohio and Toledo last met in the MAC Tournament on March 10, 2023 in the semifinals where Toledo won, 82-75. The last time out defeated Toledo was on March 12, 2021 in the MAC Semifinals to advance to the MAC Championship, ultimately advancing to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. 

DIVING

Ohio sophomore diver Astrid Pichardo's season continues this week when she heads to the 2025 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships March 10-12. The three-day event is hosted by Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The event will be streamed on BIG+ with live results available on DiveMeets.com.

Pichardo will participate in the first two days of competition after qualifying for both the 1-meter and 3-meter events earlier this season. Monday and Tuesday's preliminary rounds will begin at 1 p.m. ET, with finals set to begin at 5 p.m. each night. 

Pichardo is coming off a strong Mid-American Conference Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. Pichardo placed second in the 1-meter dive and 14th in the 3-meter event, helping the Bobcats place second overall in this year's championships. 

WOMEN'S GOLF
March 10-11 / at 2025 Butler Spring Invitational / Oldsmar, Florida / East Lake Woodlands GC / All Day  / Live Results

The Ohio women's golf team returns to action March 10-11 at the 2020 Butler Spring Invitational hosted by Butler at the East Lake Woodlands GC in Oldsmar, Fla. The Bobcats will open play on Monday, March 10 with 36 holes, before wrapping up the tournament on Tuesday, March 11 with 18 holes. 

Taking part in this year's event is IU Indy, Fairleigh Dickinson, Valpo, UIC, Southern Indiana, Merrimack, Western Michigan, Belmont, Monmouth, Ohio, Longwood, Quinnipiac, Indiana State and Butler. 

Individually for Ohio, senior Sydney Longstreth, sophomore Zoe Luebbers, sophomore Morgan Rodgers, junior Mackenzie McRee, freshman Saylor Wharff and sophomore Anna Coccia will compete in the event. 

Ohio last competed Feb. 21-23 at the Rio Verde Invite. The Bobcats finished 10th with an overall score of 907 (+43), with Longstreth leading the Bobcats with a tie for 15th. 

MEN'S GOLF
March 10-11 / Ross Collegiate Classic / Southern Pines, N.C. / Mid Pines Club / All Day  / Live Results

The Ohio men's golf team is back in action March 10-11 for the 2025 Ross Collegiate Classic hosted by George Mason at the Mid Pines Club in Southern Pines, S.C. The two-day event begins on Monday, March 11 with 36 holes and will conclude on Tuesday, March 11 with 18 holes. 

Taking part in this year's event is Dayton, George Washington, Old Dominion, Xavier, Loyola Chicago, Toledo, St. Joe's, UT Chattanooga, Loyola Maryland, St. Bonaventure, Seton Hall, Towson, Elon, William and Mary, St. John's, George Mason, Ohio, Georgetown, South Dakota and Bowling Green. 

For Ohio, junior Nathaniel Gray Lamont, senior Sam Hogan, junior Will Kates, junior Carson Trafford and junior Sheil Lyer will compete. 

Ohio last competed at the Mesquite Desert Classic Feb 16-18. The Bobcats finished in a tie for 10th place with an overall score of 882 (+18). Gray Lamon was the low Bobcat, finishing tied for 24th. 

SWIMMING

The Ohio swimming squad heads to Ocala, Fla. march 13-15 for the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational. The three-day event will take place at the FAST Facility with prelims set to begin at 9:30 a.m. each day, with finals scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET each evening. The event will serve as the final meet of the season for those who did not qualify for NCAAs

Ohio is coming off a second-place finish at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships in Buffalo two weeks ago. Head coach Mason Normal was named the MAC Swimming Coach of the Year, while the Bobcats broke a number of school, pool and championship records. Ohio recorded six individual championships, one relay championship and had five First Team All-MAC and two Second Team All-MAC selection. Sophomore Zita Szoke went on to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Championships next week in Federal Way, Wash.

The Ohio baseball team (3-11, 0-3 MAC) is back in action for four more games this week. The week begins on Tuesday, March 11 when the Bobcats head to Morehead, Ky. to take on Morehead State (6-8). First pitch is set for 3 p.m. ET at Allen Field. Ohio then heads back to Athens for a three-game series MAC series against Central Michigan (2-13, 0-0 MAC). The weekend begins on Friday, March 14 at 3 p.m. ET at Bob Wren Stadium. Ohio is back on the diamond on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. ET, before closing out the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. All three games will be streamed on YouTube. 

The Ohio offense is coming off a strong week, led by freshman Matt Ineich who hit .538 with seven hits, two doubles, one home run and four RBI. Senior Jackson Cauthron hit .533 with eight hits, two doubles, one home run and four runs scored, while sophomore Pauly Mancino added a .500 batting average with six hits, one double and three RBI. 

Morehead State is 6-8 overall and is coming off a three-game series at South Carolina. Central Michigan is currently 2-13 overall and is coming off being swept at Liberty this weekend. CMU will head to Huntington, W. Va. for two games with Marshall during the midweek, before heading to Athens to take on Ohio.

The Ohio softball team (16-6) finally returns to Athens this week for two doubleheaders. On Thursday, March 13, the Bobcats host Stonehill College (5-5) for a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the Ohio Softball Field. Ohio is back on the OSF on Saturday, March 15 when they take on Detroit Mercy (3-13) for a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the OSF. All four games will be streamed on YouTube. 

Ohio is coming off a 4-0 week at George Mason where they defeated George Mason and Longwood twice. Redshirt junior pitcher Skipp Miller was outstanding all weekend, tossing a no-hitter on Sunday against Longwood, tossing seven no-hit innings, while striking out seven on just 89 pitches. Overall, the pitchers recorded a 0.26 ERA, allowing just two runs, one earned, on 11 hits. The Bobcats did not allow an extra base hit, while walking nine and striking out 25. 

Stonehill is 5-5 overall and is coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Bellarmine Tournament in Louisville this past weekend. Stonehill will make a stop in Oxford, Ohio on Tuesday to take on Miami and Dayton on Wednesday before heading to Athens on Thursday. Detroit Mercy is 3-13 overall and is coming off a 1-4 weekend at the UNA Tournament Forence, Ala.
