CARROLTON, Ga. — The Ohio baseball team (1-5) dropped its series finale against West Georgia 4-3 on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 23).

Starter senior Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) tossed five innings for the Bobcats in which he allowed two runs on six hits and one walk. The left-hander also struck out six batters. Sophomore Trey Barkman (Kidron, Ohio) was charged with the loss after he spent an inning on the mound in relief of Masters.

The Bobcats racked up a lead in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by freshman Matt Ineich (South Lyon, Mich.). A few at-bats later, sophomore Ben Slanker (Canfield, Ohio) knocked a two-run home run to centerfield.

Ineich is tied for first in the Mid-American Conference for hits with nine this season.

West Georgia (4-2) tied the game on a pair of singles to the left side in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. The final punch from West Georgia came in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run home run to right field.

Slanker led Ohio with two hits (2-for-3) and the two RBIs that came off of his home run. Slanker is currently fourth in the MAC for RBIs with eight on the season.
