PRIOR TO OHIO: A four-year letterwinner for baseball, basketball and golf at Waynedale High School. He captained the baseball and basketball team from 2021-22 as well as the golf team in 2022, leading the 2022 baseball team to the state championship. Barkman finished the 2022 season with a 1.70 ERA in 69.1 innings pitched, boasting 77 strikeouts and two saves with a 10-1 record. 
 
PERSONAL: Barkman is the son of Troy and Jodi Barkman and has one brother, Hudson. He intends to pursue a business degree. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing. Barkman's favorite athlete is Josh Naylor and he is a Cleveland Guardians fan.
